Home
We drove 12 hours from Roanoke, VA, home today. It was some serious driving time, but the kids were absolute champs. We are positively wiped out! More about the trip later, but for now you can know we all had the best time ever! We're already thinking about the next one.

Little Town of Bethlehem
The Adams Family soaked the marrow out of life today - starting with a 7:30 am departure from our Boston hotel and ending in a slightly dingy but mostly comfortable hotel room here in Bethlehem, PA, home of Lehigh University and Sands Resort and Casino. In between we rode the Metro North in from White Plains to NYC's Grand Central Station, went to the top of the Empire State Building, wandered through Times Square, made our way up through the Christmas-decked streets of 5th Avenue got a glimpse of the Plaza Hotel (home of Eloise) and walked through Central Park before capping it all off by eating at an old favorite restaurant from mine and AB's NY days - Red Eye Grill. It was all fantastic! The kids had incredible stamina. We walked a long way and they never once whined about being tired. I think they were too busy being in awe of New York. They loved it! Addie wants to move there. Today. I love my crew and I'm glad to be tucked in to this tiny Bethlehem hotel. Tomorrow we head back to Roanoke. Happy Thanksgiving!
Train to Car
We're on the train headed back to White Plains, NY, after a long day

Family Trips
It's 6:15 am and I'm up earlier than the rest of my slumbering crew showered and excited about the day to come. We're headed to NYC, and more adventure awaits! This has been the most exciting week. Driving across the country as a family was thrilling! I told Anita Beth as we traversed the Hudson River Valley that this was the most adventurous thing I've ever done. Having spent a semester in England she thought that was sad, but it really is, and I can't wait to do it again. Before this trip (laugh if you must) I never considered driving further than a 6-hour trip to the beach. I operated as though anything further would be too difficult, that we would have to fly and well, that just wasn't affordable with four kids.
I'm happy to admit I was wrong!
There's something about driving across the country as a family that brings you closer together. I love this time we're having cramped up in hotel rooms, watching movies together and touring the city. It's the most fun I think we've ever had as a family, and I hope it's just the first of many more such trips. Where to next? The mountains? Chicago? California? Thanks to Audrey's sweet little hands, this trip and my much more daring wife all seem like possibilities.

A Day at the Science Museum
After letting the kids sleep late thanks to very effective hotel blackout curtains we dressed and headed back to our favorite restaurant - Boloco. They make awesome breakfast burritos. Flowood needs one oh so badly. After that we hit the T and made our way to the Science Museum. We saw a ship wreck exhibit, dinosaurs and a great IMAX movie. By the time we left it was dark. The kids were real troopers. Even Trey hung in there like a champ. Tomorrow - New York City! We gotta wake up early and I'm as wiped out as everybody else. We played hard!

A Full Day in Boston
It was a beautiful day in Boston, and we made the most of it. I started things off with an invigorating 6:30 run around Fenway Park. After AB squeezed her run in we bundled up and headed to Boston Commons for a couple hours of figure skating, chasing squirrels (the kids, Trey especially, were determined to catch a pigeon or one of the many fat bushy-tailed squirrels) walking and taking family snapshots in the park. We eventually loaded the kids on the T and rode to Children's Hospital. Before the appointment we had a fantastic lunch at Bertucci's, Audrey's favorite place to eat in Boston. We were all famished from the busy morning. Afterwards it was time for Audrey's appointment with our beloved Perer Waters. It went great and he seemed pleased with Audrey's hand. The giant cast is off and I'm proud to report that Audrey didn't cry when they pulled the pins from her fingers. She is SO brave! All in all it was a fantastic day.
